(He)art Stories
The work of the English artist, Douglas White, is based on a profound affinity with abandoned objects that are both natural and man-made, and his desire to compulsively transform these objects into unique sculptures that are often monumental.
The artist interrogates the meaning and power of everyday waste objects in a practice that explores the aesthetic and narrative possibilities of otherwise abandoned materials; trees struck by lightning, exploded tyres, vandalised recycling bins, rotting cacti. The magical atmosphere created by White's strangely compelling and poetic works, combined with his investigative spirit, reveals a passion for the curious, whatever its form.
