About us

Contemporary art in timeless surroundings

Located in the heart of Aix-en-Provence, a stone’s throw from the Fontaine des Quatre Dauphins, the 19th century ‘Hôtel de Gallifet’ provides a unique hub for all those who are passionate about contemporary art. A firm believer that ‘artists are the people best positioned to provide a window onto our times’, Nicolas Mazet opened the doors of this family home in 2010 to offer every visitor the chance to consider our world from another point of view.

Six exhibition rooms and 500m2 gardens showcase a range of contemporary art via four major annual exhibitions. We also host artist residencies, ateliers and discussion groups focussed on figures in the contemporary art world.

The restaurant

From late May to early October our restaurant serves fresh, refined food made using locally sourced produce, including fruit, plants and vegetables from our own vegetable garden. Visitors can enjoy lunch or supper outside in our garden, indulge in delicious homemade cake and tea in the afternoon, or savour an apéritif after visiting one of our exhibitions. During the colder months, we organise Supper Clubs inside Gallifet combined with guided visits by the curator of the winter exhibition.
