À l'accélération et à l'oubli
A graduate of the HEAD Genève, Emma Bruschi develops a practice at the intersection of craftsmanship, design, and fashion, reinterpreting traditional rural savoir-faire. She explores techniques such as spinning, straw weaving, and basketry, translating them into a contemporary aesthetic imbued with poetry. In 2020, she was awarded the 19M Métiers d’Art Prize by Chanel, affirming an approach in which experimentation and dialogue with artisans play a central role.
Her creations, deeply rooted in a relationship to place and local resources, draw on rye cultivated and harvested on her family farm near Lake Annecy – gathered each year during a communal celebration.
Emma Bruschi has exhibited at major institutions including Villa Noailles and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, and in 2023 published Savoir et Faire with Éditions Ulmer, a manifesto advocating for transmission and the living use of traditional knowledge. Her work offers a committed reflection on how gestures from the past can shape the future of creation.
