Maxime Bellaunay

A cabinetmaker and sculptor trained in applied arts, Maxime Bellaunay grounds his work in a dual commitment: to the traditional craftsmanship of fine woodworking and to a visual practice open to contemporary experimentation. Inspired by his time in France and Japan, he translates his impressions of landscapes into sculptural and furniture pieces, notably presented at Milan Design Week and at Sakuradanicho Gallery in Kyoto.

His approach is rooted in an attentive dialogue with materials. Wood, stone, and metal become partners in conversation, their irregularities guiding the gesture. Each piece emerges from a spontaneous exchange between instinct and technical mastery, taking shape as raw, singular sculpted landscapes. Maxime Bellaunay frequently collaborates with other creators, situating his work within a collective dynamic in which the material, rather than being constrained, dictates its own rhythm and language.
