"Matérialistes" invites viewers to engage with materials from a more intimate and sensory perspective. As the third chapter in a series of exhibitions focused on the work of artist-craftsmen, it continues an exploration into the heart of contemporary craftsmanship.
In this new phase, the relationship between humans and their environment is examined through the lens of materiality. It presents a world where living beings and materials are interconnected, with humans seen as extensions of their surroundings. Here, materiality becomes fluid, dissolving the boundaries between landscapes and bodies.
The exhibition showcases a diverse selection of works, including manifest objects, totemic sculptures, paper forms, plant-based dyes, and stone furniture. These creations by artist-craftsmen evoke new imaginary worlds and cosmogonies, where material itself is the source of inspiration.
Curated by Morgane Baroghel-Crucq, the exhibition features pieces in:
Paper, ceramic, moulding, sculpture, hair, photogravure, wood, marquetry, metal thread, textile, landscape, plant dyes, gold leaf, precious stones, insects...
